Contest Entry - Theme: Cybug((WARNING, SERIOUS SPOILER ALERT! IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN WRECK-IT RALPH BEFORE, DON'T SAY I DIDN'T WARN YOU))
I’m Turbo, the greatest racer ever; death has never frightened me, it’s losing that I fear more than anything.
“Turbo-Tathtic!” I exclaimed, winning yet another race.
“Ow, hey, watch it!” Nitro, one of the Turbo Brothers - no relation to me – hissed, and I turned to see I’d hit him with the trophy I had won. The credits for my game - Turbo Time - flashed, and while we had a moment to ourselves before the next race, I turned to face Nitro. He was rubbing his face, and glaring one-eyed up at me.
“Thorry Nitro, but you know how I get when I win.” I shrugged.
“Yes Turbo, we’re well aware of it.” Nitro glared. “It’s not like you don’t win often enough.”
“What can I thay?” I grinned widely. “I can’t help it if I’m the bet
Take MeTake me out to the ball game
Take me out to the park
Take me out in the daytime
Take me out in the dark
Take me out to a restaurant
Or even out to the zoo
I don't care where you take me
As long as I'm going with you
No. 14: SmileI know you don't
But that doesn't matter
I do and that's all I need
Even if times are hard
Even if it hurts
I'd rather be here with you
The one who has been here the longest
Stuck with me no matter what
Given up sleep and many others
Just to be there
I thank you
Because without you to light my life
Who knows how long I would last
My teddy bear
My nighttime cuddler
My bathroom buddy (You'll get the joke )
Thank you for being there
When I needed you the most
For sticking by me
Even when you had him
Thank you for understanding
And for indulging me in your wardrobe
You bring a smile to my face
When I'm having a bad day
I know we haven't known each other
For that long
But thank you
For not telling the others
For choosing to spend time with me
Even though you didn't really want to
And most importantly
Thank you for not freaking out
When I explained the truth to you
Oh and thank you for sticking with me
When I was freaking out
Despite the fact you felt redicul
Random Story PartsMy first memory was of gaining conciousness. Where was I? What was I doing here? Who was I? I looked around for some form of a trigger, some way to regain my memory, but there was nothing. I was just floating in the middle of nowhere...
I had to get out of there and fast. I didn't know why, but something in my fractured memory seemed to be telling me that I couldn't afford to stay, not if I wanted to live. After some difficulty, I managed to wrench the door open. My feet hit the floor and suddenly the feeling of weightlessness was gone. Without a moment's break, I begun a mad dash to get out...
I blinked back the tears as I listened, trying to ignore the fact my foot had gone to sleep, fearful that one movement would give me away. All these terrible horrible nightmares I had been having; they were all real!
The Coffee GodThe Coffee God behind the counter shuffles foot to foot, a dance of steam and espresso. Black painted fingernails, inch gauged ears and a gray striped sweatshirt, hood crooked on his back. There's a cigarette tucked behind one ear; it bobs and twitches with each step.
“Non-fat caramel latte,” he calls, just as he always does, part of a spell, part of a mantra, toneless (just a tuck at the end). I reach. He looks up.
The espresso maker hisses.
There's something like a grin, something like a spark, something like a shared secret linked eye to eye. When he passes over the drink (rough cardboard sleeve hot to the touch), he lingers. Our fingers brush, a shiver, a jolt, a ten-watt shock.
The Coffee God tilts his chin, shouts, “Hey, mind if I take my break now?”
and ducks around the counter without waiting for a reply.
He slips his cigarette between his lips without taking his eyes from mine. I follow him out the door.
